Using rubrics in Canvas can make your grading process much more efficient by providing built-in feedback to students and standardizing the grading process if there are multiple graders for a course. Rubrics in Canvas also allow graders to add comments for additional feedback to students.

Because it is easier to make edits in a Word document, we suggest drafting your rubrics in Word and copying and pasting into Canvas. Once you have your drafted rubric, navigate to the course where you want to use the rubric.

The videos below walk you through the steps for creating a rubric, attaching a rubric to a discussion board, attaching a rubric to an assignment, and finally grading with a rubric.
