Top Hat Replacing TurningPoint

Starting on August, 2018, TurningPoint will no longer be supported by ITS and will be removed from ILE classrooms. Top Hat will be the only supported classroom response (clicker) system at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Top Hat is a clicker application and comprehensive teaching platform that allows instructors to present interactive slides, quizzes, polls, and more in physical or virtual classrooms. Students can use smartphones, tablets, laptops, and ordinary cell phones to respond to questions and polls. Canvas integration is available for grade book synchronization.

Visit the Top Hat support website for more information including pedagogical considerations, instructor/student quick start guide, and Canvas integration instructions.

Integration Moving to Canvas

The gradebook integration for Top Hat will be moved from Blackboard to Canvas for FS2018. Instructors will not be able to link BlackBoard courses with Top Hat after that. If you teach with Blackboard in the fall semester and wish to use Top Hat, contact Jing Zou to discuss possible solutions.

Training Resources

New Top Hat user or interested instructors, may contact Jay Meloff for a demo as well as for training on how to navigate Top Hat.
