Needing faculty certification or looking to design and build a class in Canvas? The Office of eLearning has free workshops to help you teach online.
The workshops listed below are fully online in an asynchronous format with a schedule for the readings and activities. Instructional designers across the UM System facilitate these workshops to help guide faculty in providing quality online courses.
- Online Teaching Certification Seminar (6-week seminar)
- Designing and Building Your Online Course (10-week workshop)
While registration is currently open for fall 2020 sessions, bookmark the web pages and watch for registration opportunities for spring 2021 sessions coming soon!
If you need some training on the various eLearning tools or pedagogical tips, eLearning also offers free synchronous trainings. These trainings are hosted by instructional technologists across the UM System as well as the Teaching for Learning Center at the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Trainings are continually added, so check back if you do not see a date/time that works with your schedule or do not see a current training that meets your immediate needs. When registering, you may be prompted to enter your UMKC username and password.
Additionally, you may review eLearning’s resources for instructors for ideas and best practices to help you adapt your fall 2020 courses to be format flexible. Read more about the “Roos Return” plan from the UMKC Provost’s Office.
