New Website for UMKC Libraries
Guest post by Julie Hartwell, Instructional Design Librarian
On July 31, the UMKC Libraries launched a new website. Users can now experience an updated visual look, improved navigation, and an enhanced mobile design at library.umkc.edu. The new site aims to provide students, faculty, and staff an intuitive online experience when accessing resources and services.
As online education grows at UMKC, the new site provides quick access for faculty and student support at the library. How can the new website help your online teaching?
- Request a Library Instruction session for your course.
- Submit a Purchase Request for course materials.
- Place library materials on Course Reserve.
- Work one on one with a librarian in a Research Consultation.
If you or your students are unsure how to get the help you need, live chat is available.
After the launch, survey data revealed 93.75% of respondents were able to complete a specific task on the new website. The survey also verified anecdotal evidence about navigational design solutions. With this information, we can iterate our design and continuously create a better user experience.
