The UMKC Instructional Design & Technology team would like to welcome our newest instructional Designer, Lyn Cook. Prior to joining the UMKC ranks, Lyn worked as a Lead Instructional Designer with the Nielsen Group, a global data insights corporation whose clients include Coca Cola, Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, and more. Lyn’s work in redeveloping Nielsen’s onboarding course for its 44,000 global associates won “Best in Show” at the 2018 Dev Learn Conference and Expo, solidifying her love for mastering learning and design and the ways they can be used for capacity building in diverse population groups.

In the past, Lyn has written, directed, and produced many digital projects, including “Parent-Teacher Conference: a Community as Art Introspection of Public Education in Kansas City, Missouri”, a celebrated grant-funded documentary about public education in Kansas City. The project was funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and the Charlotte Street Foundation.

No stranger to UMKC, Lynn earned her B.A. in Psychology as well as her Master of Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  She received her MFA in Web Design and New Media from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. In her spare time, Lyn enjoys reading, watching football, traveling, and building websites. She also enjoys trying new foods.

“It feels great to be back at UMKC. Considering that I completed both undergrad and grad school here, UMKC has been a huge part of my life,” she said. “The Instructional Design & Tech team is a wonderfully talented group to work with and Dr. Molly’s passion for online learning is contagious. I’m so honored to be a part of the learning community here at UMKC.”

Welcome aboard, Lyn!
