Free Course Reviewer Certification

In an effort to apply national online course design standards and quality assurance measures to UMKC courses, an institutional policy was passed that requires all online courses to undergo a course review and certification process using a Quality Matters-based rubric. This policy will take effect on August 1, 2018.

UMKC holds institutional memberships with both Quality Matters and the Online Learning Consortium (OLC). These national organizations provide professional development certifications in applying the QM rubric and learning the peer review process, as well as in online teaching and instructional design. All instructional designers responsible for certifying UMKC courses hold current QM and OLC certifications.

UMKC Online is currently recruiting faculty to assist with online course reviews and will pay for QM and OLC training. If you are an instructor interested in becoming a certified course reviewer, please contact Brandie Elliott at elliottba@umkc.edu to begin the process of registration and enrollment.
