Computer Requirements

To participate in online courses, you'll need access to a computer, stable internet connection, a modern web browser, word processing software and enough space on your hard drive to save your work.

Review the following technology requirements and download what you need before starting classes.

Hardware

  • A webcam is preferred
  • A headset with microphone
  • Broadband internet connection is preferred. Examples of broadband internet connection are high-speed DSL or a cable modem. High-speed internet is available for students at campus computer labs.

Notice

  • Not all website features function correctly in all web browsers. If you experience difficulties with website features, please try an alternative internet browser before contacting Information Services.
  • Chromebook computers do not support every web standard and may not function correctly when accessing some university applications.

Browsers

Your browser should be able to support graphics, run JavaScript, handle iframes and accept cookies. Some courses may also require you to install Adobe Flash Player.

Please use one of these common browsers, or another modern web browser, to ensure access to all the elements of your courses.

Note: You may need to use multiple browsers depending on course requirements. Please upgrade your browser to the latest version whenever updates are available.

Protect Yourself from Viruses

You're always at risk for viruses when you're online. Although we do everything we can to ensure your data is safe, you may want to consider installing a virus protection program for added security.
