The Student Handbook will help you get to know the University, become familiar with its policies and procedures, and aid in your success while at UMKC – in the classroom and beyond. Topics are divided into categories, allowing you to access closely related subjects easily and quickly.
The Handbook also contains the Student Code of Conduct and information on how to be an engaged member of our community. All students are responsible for knowing the information this handbook contains.
UMKC offers face-to-face and live online tutoring to student in many subjects and on different levels. You can receive tutoring by walking into the tutoring center or making an appointment with our consultants.

The Division of Diversity, Access and Equity combines the efforts of the former Diversity In Action and Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action offices. They assist faculty and staff members with disabilities.

Miller Nichols Library Services for Individuals with DisabilitiesThe Miller Nichols Library is committed to providing access to information and library resources for all users and has adaptive technology workstations with screen reading and magnifying software, scanner-readers, CCTVs, and Braille embossers to enable this access.
IS Computer Labs Adaptive EquipmentMany of the UMKC’s computer labs provide adaptive equipment for persons with visual disabilities or wheelchair access needs. This equipment consists of tables with adjustable height, screen magnifiers and text-to-speech software.
The Assess for Success program helps students with academic performance by providing a cost-effective assessment service targeted to individual needs. The program is designed for individuals who may be experiencing difficulty due to study skills, unique learning styles, test anxiety, learning disabilities, or attention and focus issues.
