UMKC Online provides support to departments as they work toward the 2018 deadline for online course and instructor certification. (View the Provost’s official policy here.) Members of the instructional design team are available to meet with individuals or departments to review the standards and requirements for online course certification. Online course certification standards (contained in the Certification Checklist) are based on the Quality Matters rubric for online course evaluation, which brings together research on best practices for student engagement and learning quality.
By 2018, all UMKC faculty teaching online courses are required to become Online Certified Instructors by completing one of three Faculty Certification options: face-to-face boot camp, online three-week asynchronous, or self-paced online.
Instructors may request an Online Course Certification here.
